2013 Supersprint Championship Round 3 - SMSP North

E-mail Print

The wettest supersprint of the year was hosted at Sydney Motorsport Park North Circuit. Rain induced crashes started from the very first lap. Even the familiarisation lap for new drivers to the north circuit had an incident.  As the morning progressed, the rain got heavier and heavier.  Crashes averaged about one per session. Everyone started their runs going real slow, pacing carefully and leaving big gaps between each car.

2013 Supersprint Championship Round 2 - SMSP GP

E-mail Print

Sydney Motorsport Park GP circuit played host to round 2 for the NSW Supersprint Championship. JSCC was represented by 3 cars from Minidisc Racing Division and Zeeshans Civic. The paddock was full of competitors as well as spectators floating about to check out the supersprints and other events at Sydney Motorsport Park. The day was a little low on laps due to a session 1 oil spill at the end of the main straight and another spill just before day's end at the bottom of the hill.

Supersprints Round 7 Eastern Creek South

E-mail Print

Eastern Creek south circuit hosted the first ever competitive event with round 7 of the supersprint championship. The newly constructed extension to the circuit allows the configuration of the shorter south layout.

The circuit only has one old turn 5 in its layout. The short straight meant that it's a slower circuit where most cars max out at 140km/h. There's an uphill chicane on the side of corporate hill. That's followed by a sweeping left turn downhill into a hairpin corner. Then it's flat out in second gear going through the uphill right hander. This leads back onto corporate hill towards the old turn 8 but there is a left turn into another chicane and the finish line.

Supersprints Round 3 Wakefield

E-mail Print

JSCC supersprint competitors skipped round 2 at Eastern Creek North but returned in force for Round 3 at Wakefield. Unfortunately, two months of preparation, waiting and anticipation to hit the track was "dampened" by some week-long rainy weather.  It wasn't a fun drive down to Goulburn from Sydney in the rain and we thought that the weekend would be ruined. But the closer we got to the track, the more the rain stopped.  This created a muddy drive through roadworks with all competitors cars looking like they had just finished a rally.

JSCC members were back with Leon's EVO and Kieran's 350Z (Team Minidisc with pit crew Lowena and Wing in the parts carrying Honda Jazz). Tony's Celica made a return to the track after a 18 month hiatus. There was a full field of over 70+ cars in this CAMS NSW Supersprint Championship round.  The carports were occupied very early and the JSCC cars ended up in the comfort of dry garages.  After unpacking tools and semi-slicks, it was a race to prep the cars in time to get to scrutineering.  Semis, numbers, blue triangles, and mandatory racing suits for championship competitors were all ticked off and good to go. It was now time to finally hit the track!

The BYP supercharged K24 Civic new PB @ Wakefield Park

E-mail Print
Track Report - Benson

What a beautiful day it was yesterday for the Final round of the Supersprint series. We came into this round with full of confidence after our strong result from Round 8 @ Eastern Creek. Round 9 showcased some of Australia's quickest cars around Wakefield Park. It was shaping up to be a good day!

Things didn't go to plan early in the day. With the morning session nice and cool for optimum lap times, we were searching for car set-up. We laid down consistent low 1:03's in the first two sessions of the day, with the R35 GTR's recording a blistering mid 1:01's lap times on their brand new slicks.

We knew its going to be a tough battle to beat the GTR at Wakefield Park, due to the characteristics of the track. Power and traction are the two biggest elements after car set-up for a quick lap time around Wakefield Park. We used what we had from last round, and suffered a lot of under steer. With some slight tweaks to the adjustable suspension and rear wing angle and still suffering from under steer, we managed to get the car to lap into the 1:02's bracket consistently. I was able to managed to string in the last three session's low 1:02's lap in every session with a new personal best time of 1:02.3

Overall, the team is very ecstatic with the result. Our goal was 1:01's for the day, but with its dying front tyres and understeer issues, we are very happy with the 1:02's. Next time when we are out there, we'll equipped it with some fresh front tyres and shoot for the 1:01 lap time. Car was very consistent and reliable. Check out its consistency for individual laps. It wasn't a one lap wonder! At every session, the car lap close its PB

Round 3 - NSW Supersprints - Wakefield Park

Wakefield Park Sunday 2nd May 2010

Report by Fergus Stuart, JSCC President.

After missing the last round with a bad flu, I was super keen for Wakefield Park.

As any dedicated crew knows a Wakefield day means an early start when living in Sydney.  The set off time was about 5am destination Goulburn by about 7.... The Drive down was made more interesting by the fog on the Hume...

The Mx5 club always puts on a well run race day, from scrutineering to briefing all on time and done without fuss.... as they know we are here to get on the track!
