2013 Supersprint Championship Round 2 - SMSP GP

E-mail Print

Sydney Motorsport Park GP circuit played host to round 2 for the NSW Supersprint Championship. JSCC was represented by 3 cars from Minidisc Racing Division and Zeeshans Civic. The paddock was full of competitors as well as spectators floating about to check out the supersprints and other events at Sydney Motorsport Park. The day was a little low on laps due to a session 1 oil spill at the end of the main straight and another spill just before day's end at the bottom of the hill.

CAMS overview

E-mail Print

The JSCC was officially affiliated with the Confederation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS) in July 2008.

CAMS affiliation means many things; importantly it means that club members can obtain their CAMS competition licences through JSCC quickly and efficiently.

Just as importantly CAMS affiliation provides JSCC members with public liability and personal accident insurance cover at CAMS sanctioned events. This cover is dependent on many things (such as member sign-on at events), but the insurance is there and helps resolve one of the concerns with attending/competing in motorsports events. Full details of the cover are on the CAMS website.

Report: Round 4 of NSW Hillclimb Championship

E-mail Print

Well, the drive to Kempsey (well Cooperabung to be precise) was as uneventful as a trip up the F3 and Pacific highway can be and I arrived at the hillclimb track around 1pm. After seeing cars lining up at the base of a hill, I realised that this was going to be one scary ride, the cars were racing off towards a tight right kink and disappearing around a corner.

After that session finished I was able to drive up the course myself to the pit area and was pretty taken aback as to how daunting the track was - tight, blind and FAST.

Supersprints Round 7 Eastern Creek South

E-mail Print

Eastern Creek south circuit hosted the first ever competitive event with round 7 of the supersprint championship. The newly constructed extension to the circuit allows the configuration of the shorter south layout.

The circuit only has one old turn 5 in its layout. The short straight meant that it's a slower circuit where most cars max out at 140km/h. There's an uphill chicane on the side of corporate hill. That's followed by a sweeping left turn downhill into a hairpin corner. Then it's flat out in second gear going through the uphill right hander. This leads back onto corporate hill towards the old turn 8 but there is a left turn into another chicane and the finish line.
